Enabling the politics of bullying?

Enabling the politics of bullying?

US President Donald Trump is a bully who threatens world peace and global stability, and the world must stand up to him. Using Trump’s logic, Putin was justified in invading Ukraine. Credit: History in HD / Unsplash Acting like a bully in a schoolyard is something most of us can sadly recall from experience. When a bully is not challenged but excused or ignored, the abuse does not stop. On the contrary, the bully grows bolder, targets more people and pushes boundaries further. Regrettably, US...

The importance of peace builders

The importance of peace builders

We too often take our democratic stability, the rule of law, social justice and social cohesion, long considered pillars of lasting peace, for granted. Sadly, discourse on social media has grown increasingly harsh, normalising insults, resentment and misinformation. Credit: Shutterstock.com At the start of 2026, peace feels more urgent, and more fragile, than ever. From the devastating scenes in Ukraine to the genocide in Gaza, to conflicts in Sudan and numerous others that failed to make the...

Dan għaliex San Ġiljan u Paceville huma meqjusa mhux biss bħala l-mekka tad-divertiment għal diversi żgħażagħ lokali u turisti li jiġu fostna, imma wkoll għaliex din hija l-lokalità fejn hawn l-aktar ammont ta’ lukandi ta’ l-għola kwalità.

How am I going to be different?

WHEN PEOPLE MATTER – I truly believe that it is possible for me to reach this goal only if my attitude is based on the following three fundamental values:

LISTENING

By listening I will strive to learn what people think, feel, and need.

By listening I not only understand others but also show them that I have understood them – empathy and action will create change.

By listening I will learn to find solutions to problems that are presented to me.

Therefore, I want to listen to your opinion. I want to understand your experience.

I want to understand your difficulties so that where and when it is possible for me to do so, I can be of service.

I want to listen to your difficulties, disillusions and disappointments – where both the country and the party are falling short in respect of your rights as a citizen.

I want to listen to your suggestions and feedback on how society can move forward.

I want to listen to you.

Within this context, I plan on meeting with all NGOs working within the community and to visit you in your home.

PRESENCE

I would like to work closely with you. I would like to walk with you in your journey.

I would like to offer my presence as a sign of solidarity to you.

I would like to offer my time and energy to make a difference in your life.

I would like to be a politician who is close to you and will remain close to you in times of need.

COMMITMENT

It isn’t enough for me to listen and to be with you, - a role in politics will allow me to act.

I will honour your trust and I commit myself to be of service.

I commit myself to working for a better and just society.

All this is possible if WE – YOU and I and the OTHERS – work together.

There is strength in our being together.

Together we are STRONG.

Together WE CAN.
